All right. I have a confession.
I have about 23,961 different online blogs. (Okay, two confessions: I also tend to exaggerate sometimes.) I've used Livejournal, Xanga, Blogger/blogspot, Myspace, Facebook, and Vox. And heck, I probably started a couple more that I don't even remember. I also own a LOT of bound, paper journals. I just have this sort of obsession...er, we'll call it a fetish, with journals. See, I love to write. It is such a release, both emotionally and creatively. And with online journaling, not only can I release my creative and emotional stuff, but I can get feedback on it, and keep family and friends up to date whereas, without such a venue, I seem to really stink at staying "in touch" sometimes.
And most recently, I have been using my account on Vox. I like it for a lot of reasons, and I will probably continue to use it for more private or "protected" posts. But what I've come to realize recently is that Vox is not very reader-friendly. What I mean is, although I've made my Vox account public, so that anyone who comes across it can read things I've posted there (besides posts I may "protect"), you can't leave me comments without having your own Vox account. I kinda feel like it's a bit elitist. I'm sure they have perfectly good reasons for this measure of comment restriction, but since I tend to write things and willingly stick them up for any curious readers to see, I think I'd like to make it a bit easier for readers to not only see my writing and thoughts, but comment on them if they so desire.
Cuz let's face it, if I didn't want input, responses, reactions, etc., I would make it all private, or just put it in a physical, paper journal, ya know? But the fact is, I feel encouraged when I receive comments, critiques or praises about the things I write about (or my writing style itself). It makes me want to KEEP writing. Plus, I love to "meet" other people with similar interests, issues or ideas.
Therefore, I have revived, if you will, my blogger account, which I had started a few years ago and never really got into it because I still had other blogs (yes, plural blogs) that I was regularly maintaining. So, all this to say, I'm going to transfer my regular-ish blogging over to this one and see what kinda traffic it might generate. Maybe it'll totally flop and I'll never get any "random" readers or any sort of following other than a few family and friends who like to keep track of me, or maybe I'll become like my new favorite blogger Lotus, and attract some regular attention for my brilliance and wit. (Hey, I can dream, can't I?)
Right. So. Anyway, I just wanted to write [yet another] introductory sort of post on this new little corner of the blogoverse (yep, I just made that up), and we'll see how it turns out. I'm optimistic. Because hey, the worst that could happen is no one ever reads it but me, right? So I have this free, easy space to vent and think and brainstorm and word-vomit all I want...and that's ai'ight with me.
Mostly. But I also am kind of hopeful that someone will read some of my totally random, scattered, tangential thoughts and be so generous as to comment saying simply, "I can relate!" So, check it out. Read my craziness. Tell me you love it. Or you hate it. That's cool, too.
Stay tuned for a real post soon...like, when it's not 2 a.m. and/or I don't have to be at work in 5 1/2 hours. Gah. Hello, Zombie Monday.
